Q-1 Cultural Exchange

The Q-1 Cultural Exchange program is designed for persons who are traveling to the United States to participate in an international cultural exchange program. Under the Q-1 Cultural Exchange program. The participant can engage in practical training and employment so long as they are also sharing the history, traditions, and cultures of their home country. Positions include but are not limited to Amusement park attendant, Culinary Artist, Dancer, Performance artist.

Q-1 is available to both students and non-students; it provides participants with a paid position for a maximum of 15 months. Positions are available all year round, but mostly in summer and winter; and are in a public location such as amusement parks, themed restaurants, museums, schools, businesses, and more.

Program Eligibility

Participants must provide proof that they are:

  • At least 18 years of age
  • Currently enrolled in a tertiary institution full-time (for student)
  • Able to speak English well
  • Flexible, open-minded, and hardworking
  • Be able to communicate with the public about the culture of their home country
  • Be qualified to perform the service of the type of training listed in the application

Registration Steps

  • Pay a non-refundable/non-transferable registration fee
  • Pay a non-refundable/non-transferable commitment fee
  • Register online
  • Submit a color copy of your school ID card and Status Letter (for students)
  • Submit a copy of your Resume
  • Submit a color copy of the information pages of your passport
  • Submit two (2) passport size pictures
  • Copy of Police Record
  • Medical Report (upon request)
  • Official school transcript (for student)
  • Submit 2 references (Forms are online)

Program Fees Include

  • Guaranteed work placement secured prior to arrival (except for self place participants)
  • Hourly Wage
  • Paperwork coordination for Q-1 Visa Documentation
  • Health/Travel Insurance for 4 months
  • Pre-departure and post-arrival orientation to the United States
  • Housing Assistance
  • 24/7 personal support
  • Detailed participant handbook that contains all information relating to the program

Program fees does NOT include:

  • Visa application/processing fees at the U.S. Consulate/Embassy
  • Round trip airfare
  • Airport transfers
  • Transportation expenses
  • Any daily living expenses including rent, utilities, furnishings, meals etc.
  • Any expenses at the place of employment

SELF-ARRANGED JOBS

Applicants who have arranged their own jobs in the United States must submit a written offer of employment or fill out a sponsor employment form. An official employment offer must be on company letterhead and must clearly state the following:

  • Company name, contact address phone number, and fax number
  • Contact name and e-mail
  • Job start and end date
  • Pay rate
  • Housing description
N.B Any falsified, forged, or fabricated job offers will be rejected with refund.
